This tour is basically available on every Saturday and Sunday, but also sometimes on Monday of national holiday when JRA (Japan Racing Association) horse race is held.
Recently Japanese horses are getting strong. Some horses run in overseas prestigious races like Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Horse racing is getting popular among Japanese people and would be the most typical gamble. You will enjoy not only horse racing itself but also watching how Japanese people are distracted on weekend. In case of a tour to the horse racing course, it is possible to see inside race course as general amusement place for Japanese people. In case of visiting WINS, you can choose Off-Track Betting Facilities near your hotel.
If you are lucky, you will get money (but it is NOT guaranteed).
In spring, autumn and winter, JRA horse races are held in Tokyo area in either Tokyo Racecourse (Fuchu, west of Tokyo) or Nakayama Racecourse (Funabashi, Chiba).
In summer, JRA horse races are held in local sites in Japan and this tour is done by visiting one of the Off-Track Betting Facilities (WINS) in Tokyo (or Yokohama) near your hotel.
Detailed information on schedule of JRA races can be obtained from JRA English web site.
My boyfriend and I booked this tour at the end of our trip so that we could get a "quick" tourist overview of the city but wish we would have booked towards the beginning because Toshihiro had so many recommendations and was so helpful navigating the city. I requested that we see some historical sights and Toshihiro was very prepared and knowledgable about the history of Japan and we were able to see so much in one day. We went to several places and at the last minute at the end changed the itinerary to see the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame which was a major highlight for my sports loving boyfriend and Toshihiro's first time there. We also went to the fish market and we went to an amazing sushi restaurant that we probably would have passed by on our own. Another benefit of booking this tour was to have someone be able to take pictures for us without always having to ask the crowd and we got some awesome pictures to keep for the memories. I would rate this tour 10/10 and tell everyone that visits Toyko to book this tour! Thank you Toshihiro-san Sarah & Adam (NYC, Tampa)
Thank you for the outstanding tour review with nice photos, Sarah-san. You had showed me your interests clearly. That's why it was easy to change the itinerary for you. You understood uniqueness of Japanese culture and history. You also understood modern aspects of Tokyo. I was surprised that your boyfriend really knows Japanese baseball. Many excellent Japanese baseball athletes are now playing in US major league. I am a little bit disappointed with current situation of Japanese baseball league. But your boyfriend understood importance of Japanese baseball league. He purchased a lot of baseball goods which are sold only in the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame. I enjoyed visiting this holy place for baseball fan. And you were interested in Japanese food culture. I also enjoyed eating sushi with you. I am relived that two pictures I took for you at Shibuya crossing and Asakusa Kaminarimon gate are much nicer than I expected. You are like Hollywood movie stars. I enjoyed everything in this tour. This tour was your first visit to Japan. You are still young. Please come to Japan again in the near future.
We had a wonderful tour on two days through Tokyo- thanks to Toshihiro! Even on a rainy day he created a perfect program for us four (2 adults/2 children age 3/7). Thank you so much!
Thank you for the fantastic tour review, Anke-san. Second day was a strong rainy day. We needed to change the itinerary. You were very cooperative. You showed me your children's interests clearly. I could make a rainy day tour plan easily. You are still in Japan. Enjoy the rest of your stay!
Seeing the sights with Toshi was so informative. His English is superb and he is so friendly and flexible. We had to change the start time the day before and he was accommodating. He took us to a delicious lunch spot near the fish market. Don’t hesitate to book a day learning about Tōkyō with Toshi!
Thank you for the wonderful tour review, Jennifer-san. I think that you have much tolerance to understand pronunciation of non-native people's English as you have travelled the whole world. It was a honor for me to guide you through key spots in Tokyo. You are familiar with Japanese culture. I know that you are still in Japan for several days more. Have a nice trip!
We had a lovely day exploring the highlights with Toshihiro-San. Although it was raining the whole day, he patiently guided us through the entire city, explaining the highlights and history of each of the stops, whether it be the Imperial Palace and Japanese royal family or the Kabuki Theater and history of this uniquely Japanese art form. We had a memorable day in our first full day in Tokyo!
Thank you for the splendid tour review, Priyanka-san. Unfortunately it was a strong rainy day as you mentioned. It was difficult to visit outdoor tourist spots. We needed to change the itinerary. But you were very cooperative. I know that I need to appreciate your attitude to try to learn and accept local culture and life style. I was happy to explain Japanese history for the people like you. Enjoy the rest of days in Japan!
