Occultism in Budapest in the late XIX. century

Art, Culture, & Historical

In 1848, following the ghost stories of Hydesville, America and Europe saw a renewed interest in the occult and spiritual experiences. The modern Spiritist movement was born, and Budapest soon became one of its central hub.

In this short 2 hour walking tour, we will go around the places connected to this occult movement: the homes of the practitioners of mesmerism, table-turning and alchemy; and buildings with stories of exorcism and unwelcome ghosts.
