Hi, my name is Timo, your local private guide in Helsinki. I am an easy-going and open-minded person. I like to interact with people from across the world and to know about their culture, language, travel interests. I am passionate about nature. In my free time I enjoy outdoor activities of all kinds. In the summer amongst other things, I love to hike, mountain bike and go kayaking. In the winter, I love to snowshoe and watch the northern lights. My professionality is also based on a long career in information technology, serving in an international company as a technical specialist. This has given me the opportunity to travel around Europe, the USA and Asia. As well as being an experienced Nature and Wilderness Guide, I am also a Golden Badge Guide (the ultimate qualification in guiding in Finland). I am also a Licenced City of Helsinki and a Licenced Suomenlinna Unesco World Heritage Guide, the City of Hyvinkää and Tuusula Guide, so wherever we go you'll be in good hands. My aim is to provide you with enthusiastic informative private tours which ensure that your Helsinki and Finland experience will be the best. My bespoke tours include walking tours or biking tours, tours by a private car, a van or a minibus. Within Helsinki we can cover the major sites or explore less well-known districts in the countryside like Nuuksio or Sipoonkorpi Wilderness areas, the picturesque small town of Porvoo, nearby towns like Tuusula and Hyvinkää are a few of the many wonderful places that can be easily reached in a day trip. My tours are very flexible in content and timing and I can adapt easily to your preferences and suggestions. For me, the best reward for guiding guests is the fun I have sharing the beauty of the place. Let me be your local guide and I will share with you not only my knowledge and expertise but my enthusiasm as well.

Hi I am a professional Helsinki Tourist Guide qualified to guide throughout the whole of Helsinki including Suomenlinna Fortress Unesco World Heritage site. In a previous life I was a tour guide in Greece, Spain and Italy, so I am more than experienced with both large and small groups. I am especially interested in Scandinavian history, art, architecture, design, Jean Sibelius, cycling, hiking, meeting people and. . . . sauna! My tours can be tailored to suit my customers' needs and interests, e.g. day trips to medieval city of Porvoo, surrounding countryside or the National Park of Nuuksio and heritage sauna tours can also be arranged on request. I am positive and friendly. I enjoy meeting new people and do everything I can to help guests to make the most of their visit in Helsinki. I have been told by guests on my tours that I have a great sense of humor and really know my stuff. I also provide accessible tours for elderly with a wheelchair accessible vans.

Welcome to visit the world´s happiest nation, Finland! Seven years in a row has Finland been ranked to be the happiest nation in the world. Besides being a safe, clean country with honest people, we have a fascinating history of being part of Sweden and Russia for centuries. My passion is history and our beautiful nature, and I cannot wait to introduce you to our beautiful seaside capital Helsinki. I have a long history in tourism, I put my heart to serve you a wonderful tour in Helsinki. I have been a licensed Helsinki guide since 2006, a former Finnair flight attendant, and I work as a tour leader in Spain, Portugal, and Finnish Lapland. Finland

Hi, I am Nina. My guiding career begins from Lapland from 1995, where I made my first tours for example at the touristic icebreaker Sampo. Since 1996 I have lived in Helsinki. Before I become Helsinki Guide 2003, I guided also in the Parliament House, Helsinki Museum of Art (HAM) and Museum of the Cultures. Since 2003 as Helsinki authorized guide I have made all kind of tours by bus, taxi, bike, boat, tram and of course by walking in Helsinki, Espoo and the surroundings like Porvoo, and Tuusulanjärvi. I have also specialised to guide groups of children. As a tour leader I have worked in Finland and taken groups by train to St.Petersburg, Russia. I was also as a tour leader in China 2005-2008. I love languages and different cultures and speak also Swedish, Russian and Chinese as well German and a bit Spanish. I am interested in history, design and architecture--hope you are too! My special interest is to do tours on an sustainable way, for example by walking and utilizing an existing excellent public transportation in Helsinki area. As many Finns, I am also interested in recycling and second hand shops, which sell vintage or modern but recycled clothes/ items.

Wonderful Day in Tokyo w/ Maru!

Our family had a wonderful time in Tokyo with Maru as our guide. She was very professional and patient with our group of 9, each of who had different ideas of what they wanted to do and see. She let us customize our tour and shared a lot of interesting information about each location. Maru was very friendly and taught us how to navigate the train system. It didn’t seem so intimidating afterwards. We really enjoyed our time in Tokyo with Maru. I am so glad I found her to be our Tokyo guide as we were almost going to go with another company. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a tour guide for Tokyo.

Perfectly planned tour

Masahisa is an outstanding guide with unmatched work ethics - it was a pleasure to spend two days with him. Initially, he stood out for me by detailed long responses. It allowed us to collaborate ahead of time with extremely detailed customized planning of the trip. Masahisa ensured that our wishes were accommodated, including a bullet train ride. He showed up on time for both days and stayed extra, as needed. Incredible planning skills resulted in minimal waiting for trains, even with 3 train changes. Masahisa is very kind and friendly - he took a lot of group pictures for us, and even printed them! He provided us with very detailed portfolio of information for both days. He was not available for the third day, so gave us detailed instructions. Choices of lunch places for both days were excellent. He went extra mile to book world-known Kobe beef restaurant for us. Highly recommend!

Alexander Thank you for stopping by Kansai in this scorching hot season. Hearing about your homes in S.F, NYK, Evanston, Northwestern Univ, and other update from your party reminded me of my active days in my yourth in US . I was also grateful for the two enjoyable days. If you have the opportunity, please come again. Wish you all return home safely with great family memory in the Far East Island. Thanks Masahisa

A great first day in Shinjuku.

As first time visitors to Japan, planning a trip can be a bit daunting. In planning the trip, I was impressed by previous reviews for Ai so asked if she was available to offer an introduction to Shinjuku on our first day; something that would suit a family of four, from 15, 19 to 50’s. Ai delivered a fantastic tour for a few hours around Shinjuku. She kept things interesting for all of us and showed us places and bars/restaurants that we’d never have found on our own. A superb start to our trip. Thank you Ai.

Awesome Busan

We had a great time in Busan thanks to Dylan! He was historically knowledgeable and shared personal experiences as well. We requested a good Korean meat restaurant for lunch, and the food was delicious!! His fun and witty personality made our day an enjoyable one. We would like to make another trip to Busan someday and hopefully connect with Dylan again.
