Shibuya Fashion Week
Under the wings of the official Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo, Shibuya hosts its very own fashion week from October 10th 2014 to October 19th. Famous for the fashionable youth hanging out in the Shibuya area, this special version of the Tokyo Fashion Week will be on edge! The theme of this year’s fall edition of Shibuya Fashion Week will be “A Shibuya Style, Just For Me”, inviting people to find themselves through fashion and promoting the real beauty of Shibuya (according to their website). What are some of the events during Shibuya Fashion Week?

This runway is open to the public, so if you’d like to know what the trends are next season, just drop by the runway in Bunkamura Street. Be sure to arrive early if you want to have a good spot.

What? 109 Halloween. THE temple of ‘gyaru’ (Japanese young girls with a very colourful and often gaudy style, find out more here), Shibuya’s 109, hosts a special Halloween Week from Oct 14th till 31st (so it’s actually two weeks!). Prepare yourself for a Disney-like experience, with spiders hanging from ceilings, pumpkins everywhere etc. etc., lots of Halloween goods and limited edition items. If you’re not Japanese sized (like myself..), buying clothes there will be difficult, but just walking around there people watching is already most of the fun!
When? Oct 14th-31st 2014 (according to 109’s opening times: 10:00-21:00)
Where? 109 Shibuya. If you get off at Shibuya station you can see the 109 building from the scramble crossing. Website: www.shibuya109.jp/en/
